STATUE OF UNITY: World’s tallest Statue in India
In the Year 2010, Mr. Narendra Modi announced the project “The Statue of Unity” while chaired in Gujrat as Chief Minister.
The state government owed funds, expected cost over $410 million, even though monetary support was provided by the federal government and public contributions.
After the year 2014 when Mr. Narendra Modi chaired as Prime Minister of India, called on the citizen of India from each corner to donate their iron, and after craft that cumulative iron the statue of unity, emerge as the unity of Indian citizens.
The statue appears to be wearing a shirt, shawl, and loincloth with detailed folds.
An artist’s idea of the ‘Statue of Unity’ to honor Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India’s first deputy prime minister, will stand at 597ft when finished in 42 months.
It is almost 100ft taller than China’s Spring Temple Buddha, the world’s existing tallest statue at 502ft. It is twice as high as the Statue of Liberty in New York, which is 305ft. Nelson’s Column in Trafalgar Square stands at 170ft.
The memorial is set on a river island close to the Narmada Dam and connected to an amusement park and a garden in Sardar Patel’s honor by a bridge.
Currently, the tallest statue is the Spring Temple Buddha in Henan, China, which is about 100 feet shorter than the finished Statue of Unity. Beating this record is, of course, no simple deed.
The statue is supposed to come into sight as if it is “walking upon water,” The site is on Sadhu-Bet island, a rocky protrusion in the middle of the Narmada river bed, and the team had to persuade and strengthen it in a way that artfully integrated the sculpture’s bottom with the surrounding body of water.
Under the construction team is an extensive complex of buildings to supplement the towering statue. The project also includes a dedicated museum to Patel, research and entertainment centre with a 3-star hotel, in a complex nearby.
The empirical component of the walking journey to the statue is enormously important. The layout incorporated strategies on creating areas of shade and relief, and places to frame stunning views of the statue, increasing the entire pedestrian promenade.
Mr. Patel, who grew up in Gujarat, is known for his leadership in India’s fight back for independence from the British Crown. Called the “Iron Man of India” for his persistent and uncompromising activism, he worked to successfully integrate over 500 princely states to form a unified, newly born India.
The statue in Gujarat draws its name from this astonishing achievement. It is scheduled for completion and inaugurates this 31st of October by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to coincide with Patel’s 138th birth anniversary.
In 2013 Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that in the world, people talk about America’s Statue of Liberty but we want to make a statue of Sardar Patel at twice the size of the statue of Liberty.
Another statue will be set even taller than the Statue of Unity is being built in Mumbai, which is dedicated to a legendary Indian warrior, Shivaji, a height of 212 meters.
