Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Zurich
Welcome to Switzerland! Pick up your 8-Day Swiss Travel Pass at the airport station and ride into Zurich. Check into your hotel.
Afternoon: Explore the Old Town (Altstadt), visit the Grossmünster church, and take a free boat ride on Lake Zurich using your pass.
Day 2: Lucerne & Mount Rigi
Take a 50-minute train to Lucerne. Leave your luggage in the station lockers and embark on the "Majestic Round Trip".
The Route: Boat from Lucerne to Vitznau, cogwheel train up Mount Rigi (the Queen of the Mountains), cable car down to Weggis, and boat back to Lucerne. All fully covered by your Swiss Travel Pass. Later, train to Interlaken for the night.
Day 3: Jungfraujoch - Top of Europe
Board the train from Interlaken to Grindelwald, then take the modern Eiger Express tricable gondola to the Eiger Glacier station before transferring to the Jungfrau Railway up to Jungfraujoch (3,454m).
Highlights: Visit the Ice Palace, step out onto the Sphinx Observation Terrace to see the Aletsch Glacier (Europe's longest), and play in the snow. Return to Interlaken via Lauterbrunnen.
Day 4: Journey to Zermatt
Travel south from Interlaken via Spiez and Visp deep into the Alps. Arrive in the car-free alpine village of Zermatt, nestled at the base of the iconic Matterhorn.
Afternoon: Stroll the wooden chalets of the village. Keep an eye out for clear views of the Matterhorn from the Kirchbrücke bridge at sunset.
Day 5: Gornergrat Railway
Board the Gornergrat Bahn, Europe's highest open-air cogwheel railway. The 33-minute journey takes you up to 3,089 meters.
The View: From the top, you have an unobstructed, panoramic view of the Matterhorn and 29 other peaks over 4,000 meters. Hike down to Riffelsee lake to catch the famous reflection of the Matterhorn (summer only).
Day 6: The Glacier Express to Montreux
It's time for the world's slowest express train! Board the Glacier Express from Zermatt to Brig, then transfer toward Montreux on the shores of Lake Geneva.
French Switzerland: Arrive in Montreux, famous for its jazz festival and Mediterranean climate. Walk along the flower-lined lake promenade to the medieval Chillon Castle.
Day 7: Geneva & The Jet d'Eau
Take a short train ride around the lake from Montreux to Geneva, the international city of peace.
Explore: See the massive Jet d'Eau fountain, visit the United Nations headquarters, and wander the historic Vieille Ville (Old Town). Enjoy a final Swiss fondue dinner in the city.
Day 8: Departure
Use the final day of your Swiss Travel Pass to take the 7-minute train ride directly into Geneva Airport (GVA) for your departure flight.
